Hillside Jessie was three years old before she had her first litter and it wasn't actually a planned litter. Hillside Nero had originally been thought to be a doe and that's when he was named 'Cassandra'. Young Cassandra was about four months old and in with the doe herd when we left for a long vacation. When we got back and were grooming bunnies, we found out that Cassie wasn't really Cassie after all. Since we'd just got back from a trip to Rome and he was a troublemaker, he got named 'Nero'.
Even though she was an older first time mum bun, she had her litter with no problems and since she had a nice litter, we let her meet up with Phineas Phogge as well as Caesar before she retired from having litters.
Hillside Jessie has good conformation and lovely wool. Soft, silky and pretty dense. The only reason she wasn't bred earlier was because we had too many bunnies at the time.
This is Jessie after a haircut. It's pretty hard to actually see the conformation on these bunnies unless they've either had a haircut or you actually have your hands on them. We do try to follow the ARBA's 'Standards of Perfection' for wool quality, conformation and color. If we ever had any bunny shows around here, the bunnies could go.
