Hillside Axial is the best black buck from this year (2021). He's got great wool and great shoulders. We will see how he does as a herd sire, although he probably won't be used a whole lot. His sire, Whimsical Woods Vincent, has been used a lot since Vinny is agouti and we had lost that color in the herd. Now, the agouti color is back, but they are all descendents from Vinny and, hence, at least half siblings to Axe.
Here's a few Hillside Axial pictures. The bunnies here at Hillside Farm just get their pictures taken in a haphazard manner so there's no specific ages or time when they get their pictures taken. Axial being a black means that he could be any one of many of the blacks that were born this year so no telling which bunny he is in the group baby pictures.
Great shoulders, nice erect ears, good density of wool, nice depth of wool color. He's also got a nice soft temperament and is easy to work with.
Nice alert expression, yet calm and collected. His ears are nicely erect, although ideally they would be a bit closer together. But, they wouldn't lose any points on a judging table. He could arch his back up a tiny bit faster behind his shoulders, there's almost a flat spot there, but not much of one. It's much easier to see bunny conformaton after a hair cut.
Hillside Amber is the red doe on the left and Axial is the blace one. This was after about a week of rain so they're a bit muddy around the edges, but the sun is out again so things will dry out. They are hopefully going to have a litter in mid-January 2022.
This is Hillside Vladamir at four months old. He's got the 'extra fluffy' gene and seems to have a deeper color to his coat as well as longer wool. He has a matching sister and littermate, Hillside Venus. They are still very young, it will be interesting to see how they mature as adults and see if they have offspring who are also 'extra fluffy'. I'm also hoping they will have a silky texture to their wool. We will see when they get their adult coats.
He's still too young for buck duty, but will be meeting up with somebunny later this year.
Currently, this is a non-clickable bunny since I don't have a separate page made for him yet. The picture can be clicked for a bigger picture, but no separate bunny page yet.
This is Hillside Viktor at nine weeks old. He's got the 'extra fluffy' gene and seems to have a deeper color to his coat as well as longer wool. He's still way too young for buck duty, but will be meeting up with somebunny much later this year or early next year. We will see how he develops when he gets his adult coat.
