There are usually more female bunnies (does) here than males (bucks). A doe is usually pretty good about living in a group whereas bucks can sometimes become grumpy if they have to share space with other bucks. They don't mind sharing with a doe, but then we end up with a lot of baby bunnies so that doesn't work out so well, either. Usually the does are all in the big communal living spaces in the big hutches unless they are in a separate nesting box space.
Since the main part of the bunny herd here at Hillside Farm Hawaii consists of the females, we try to keep the numbers of the different colors of them according to which colors of Hula Bunny Yarn sell the best. At the moment, we need a lot more white bunnies since we can't keep up with the demand for the Coconut Dream color of Hula Bunny yarn. The next best selling color is the "Moonlit Dance", which is a nice silvery gray and is made with the fiber from the black bunnies. At the moment, we almost have an over-abundance of blacks, but Moonlit Dance is a lovely color so that's okay.

Cheiri is one of the 'All Blacks'. She was born in a litter of - well, you probably guessed it, all black babies and that name kinda stuck. She is a solid black doe and has lovely dense wool with almost a bit of crimp to it. She is one of the larger does with nice sturdy conformation.

Gayle is one of the 'atmospheric' bunnies. She was born in 2016 when all the bunnies were named for atmospheric conditions. She has good color density in her wool, although there are some white hairs scattered through it. She has nice crimp in her wool, too.

Janet is a Vienna Carrier although she doesn't have any Vienna Marks herself. She does have excellent wool texture - very soft and silky with good density both in quantity and color, so we are keeping her here in the breeding herd even with the Vienna gene. She does have the recessives for chocolate and albino offspring.

Myste is one of the 'atmospheric' bunnies. She was born in 2016 when all the bunnies were named for atmospheric conditions. The lilac color in bunnies is a diluted chocolate color. That means Myste has the recessives for chocolate as well as dilute colors of bunnies. Since her dam is a tortoiseshell, she also has a recessive for the 'non-extension' colors of fawns and tortoiseshells.

Sirocco is one of the 'atmospheric' bunnies. Sh was born in 2016 when all the bunnies were named for atmospheric conditions. She is one of the few bunnies we have who has the agouti gene.
Sirocco will also molt clean, down to where she looks to have 'normal' rabbit fur. Then she grows out her angora coat again. Kinda like a transformer bunny. She also molts easily, so we hope to have some offspring from her with the same qualities.

Suzie is one of the "Famous People" bunnies since she was named after a famous person. In this case, the Suzie who wrote "The Nervous New Owner's Guide To Angora Rabbits". Angora bunnies all consider her very famous author and Suzie bunny thinks so, too.
Suzie has a very dense coat with a lovely texture to it. We are hoping from some offspring from her with the same qualities.

We have three sisters, Zelda, Zoey & Zuzu all of whom are young black bunnies and are real similar to each other with the exception of the tattoos in their ears. They are all "Zee" bunnies since they were born in 2017 when all the baby bunnies had names which started with a "Zee". They will all be providing us with fiber for the 'Moonlit Dance' color of yarn.
It's possible for any one of them to have different color recessives from her sisters. If/when any of them have offspring we may be able to determine any recessives they may have. They may also begin to look a little different from each other as they get older, but at the moment they're pretty much identical triplets.
